JUST WORKIN’ ON MY FITNESS!

Saving money doesn't have to be a workout but you can work out while saving money!

Mother Nature

Some of the best ways to work out can be found outside. Running the lake is a perfect example. Find a lake (Lakeland has plenty of them) and run, jog or walk. You could even switch things up and ride a bike or roller blade instead! Another great option is to visit park trails.

But, if you want to keep things simple, a run around the neighboorhood is a great place to start.

YouTube

Why spend your precious money on workout videos when you can watch hundreds of them for free on YouTube? Whether you want to work out your legs, arms, abs, or yes- even your butt (don’t deny it), YouTube has plenty of videos that will take you through countless exercises to give you the results you want!

Sports

Are you the type of person who gets bored quickly with doing the same exercises over and over again? A great way to still work out, while giving yourself some variety, is playing sports! You can join a recreational club, try out for a sports team at your school, or even get a group of friends together and play a game of basketball, soccer or football!

Equipment

Purchasing workout equipment can be a great investment! No, this doesn’t mean you have to buy huge workout machines. Start off with small things like: dumbbells, exercise balls, step bars, pull up bars, etc. Then do some research online and figure out different exercises you can do with the equipment. You would be shocked at how many different parts of the body you can work out!

Another option is to get your friends to buy equipment with you. You can each buy a separate item and when it’s time to work out, meet up and share equipment! Friends can be a great source of motivation, too! They will help you push beyond your limits and not give up.

Gym

Before you sign-up for a membership at a gym, why not take advantage of the gym at your school that’s completely free? It’s also extremely convenient since you’re already at school. When you’re done with classes, wind-down with a good workout at the gym.

Or if you prefer working out at night or in a bigger gym with a wider selection of machines, get a membership to a local gym. You will be amazed at the sweet deals you can find. Some gyms are giving memberships for as little as $10 a month! And with a cherry on top, many gyms even provide aerobic classes like zumba, pilates and yoga!

Here are some other quick tips for working out on the low!

  • Turn on some music and dance!
  • Go to a local park and use the benches, monkey bars, etc, to work out!
  • Go to the pool and swim some laps! (During the colder months, visit an indoor pool.)
  • If you have a dog, go on a walk! Not only will you get good exercise, your poochie will love you!
  • Don’t have dumbbells? Lift milk jugs! Seriously… try it.
  • Wash your car and then when you’re done, wash your parents car too!
  • Run up and down the bleachers at your school.
  • Wherever you go, take the stairs instead of the elevator.
The list could go on and on but if you follow any of these steps, you will be in shape and lookin’ good in no time! Plus, all the money you save can go towards a new outfit. Come on people, it’s time to turn some heads!
